The distribution of HL-A antigens has been compared in 50 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 300 healthy control subjects. 26 HL-A antigens were tested using a lymphocytotoxicity micromethod. No statistical significant difference was observed between the antigenic frequencies in the two population. There is perhaps in rheumatoid arthritis an increased frequency of an antigenic determinant common to W10 and HL-A13,but seeing that these two specificities are rare in the control population, the typing of a larger number of individuals will be necessary to prove or to refute this point.
