Schulabsentismus ist gerade bei Jugendlichen ein häufiges Problem und bedeutet eine erhebliche Gefährdung ihrer weiteren Entwicklung. Die Ursachen sind vielfältig; neben intrapsychischen Faktoren spielen häufig familiäre und schulische Bedingungen eine wichtige Rolle. Insbesondere bei hohem Chronifizierungsgrad ist in der Regel eine stationäre Therapie angezeigt. Die vorliegende Arbeit gibt einen Überblick über das Störungsbild, ätiologische Faktoren und das diagnostische Vorgehen. Am Beispiel eines Jugendlichen mit einer häufig anzutreffenden Symptomkonstellation wird das therapeutische Vorgehen im stationären Bereich aufgezeigt.
