Die Frage, wie Menschen. die an einer Schizophrenie leiden. mit ihrer Erkrankung und deren psychosozialen Folgen umgehen, war bisher kaum Gegenstand wissenschaftlicher Arbeit. Es fehlten daher theoretische Konzepte und empirische Instrumente zur Beschreibung der Krankheitsbewältigung Schizophrener. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein solches Konzept zur differenzierten Erfassung von Bewältigungsanforderungen und -reaktionen dargestellt. Dieses Konzept wurde in die Entwicklung eines strukturierten Interviews zur Erfassung der Krankheitsbewältigung Schizophrener umgesetzt. Das Interview wird ausführlich vorgestellt. Es erlaubt eine Differenzierung des Bewältigungsverhaltens nach den Problembereichen der Symptomatik und der sozialen Anpassung in bezug auf die Rollenerfüllung in Familie, Partnerschaft und Beruf. Darüber hinaus wird die Wahrnehmung des Patienten bezüglich seiner Verletzbarkeit in bestimmten, möglicherweise rückfallprovozierenden Situationen erfragt. Anwendungsmöglichkeiten des 1KB in Forschung und Praxis werden erläutert.
