Aspirationsbiopsie des Hodens ist bei Sterilitätsuntersuchungen angewandt worden. Im Gegensatz zu früheren Untersuchungen mit Hodenpunktion, die nur das Vorhandensein von Spermien nachweisen sollten, und zu Grobnadelpunktionen, die Material für histologische Untersuchungen liefern sollten, haben wir die Feinnadelpunktion angewandt, urn Material für zytologische Untersuchungen zu erhalten. Die Methode hat sich als wertvoll erwiesen, da sie ein Einzelstudium der an der Spermiogenese beteiligten Zellen, der Sertolizellen und in gewissem Maβe auch der Leydigschen Zellen besser als im gewöhnlichen histologischen Schnitt ermöglicht. Die Methode hat weiterhin den Vorteil, daβ Untersuchungen leicht ambulant durchgeführt und auch wiederholt werden können. Schwierigkeiten bei der Gewinnung einer ausreichenden Anzahl unbeschädigter Zellen im Ausstrich, können gewöhnlich dadurch überwunden werden, daβ man kräftig aspiriert und die spezialgeschliffenen Ausstreichgläser anwendet. Dadurch, daβ die zur Anwendung kommende Punktionsnadel einen Durchmesser von nur 0,6 mm hat, scheint auch das Risiko für Blutungen bei diesen Untersuchungen sehr gering zu sein.
