Der Autor behandelt 3 Fälle von Priapismus. Bei einem Patienten wurde im akuten Stadium eine Pénographie durch Injektion in die A.dorsalis penis und in die V.dorsalis penis subfascialis durchgeführt und diese beiden Gefässe sowie ein Stuck Schwellkör-pergewebe histologisch untersucht. Nach einer anatomischen Einführung über die Gefässversorgung des Penis und den Aufbau der Schwellkörper wird auf das klinische Bild des idiopathischen Priapismus eingegangen. Der Autor vertritt die Auffassung, dass nicht eine Venenstauung oder -erkrankung diesen Zustand auslöst, sondern ein Odem, welches durch eine prolongierte Erektion hervorgerufen wird. Zum Abschluss werden neue chirurgische Methoden, welche die Prognose des Priapismus wesentlich verbessert haben, angeführt.
