Etude histochimique de 24 tumeurs vésicales (8 papillomes, 6 carcinomes papillaires intraépithéliaux, 10 carcinomes infiltrants). On trouve une reaction intense de l’acide désoxyribonucléique nucléaire et de l’acide ribonucléique cytoplasmique seulement dans la couche basale des papillomes et dans tous les elements cellulaires des carcinomes. Le glycogène est present dans le cytoplasme de toutes les tumeurs vésicales, bénignes ou malignes. Le stroma conjonctif contient des mucopolysaccharides neutres et acides. Les tumeurs vésicales présentent une intense activité de la phosphatase acide, et une activité très faible de la phosphatase alcaline, reaction plus évidente dans les tumeurs malignes. Parmi les enzymes des systèmes déshydrogénasiqucs, les tumeurs vésicales ont une activité diminuée de la succino-déshydrogénase et une activité très intense de la DPN-diaphorase et de la lactico-déshydrogénase. En general dans les papillomes les reactions sont plus intenses dans les couches basales, tandis que dans les carcinomes elles sont d’intensité égale dans toutes les cellules.
