An nicht narkotisierten Ratten mit Verweilkatheter in Aorta, Vena portae und Duodenum wird der homöostatische Regulationsmechanis-mus der Leber auf enterales Angebot unterschiedlich osmotisch kon-zentrierter Lösungen untersucht. Eine neue Technik der Dauerkanü-lierung der Vena hepatica wird beschrieben. Dadurch ist es möglich, die hepatische Elektrolytclearance zu bestimmen. Die Befunde zeigen, daβ die Leber das primäre osmotische Pufferorgan des Organismus ist durch Speicherung bzw. Abgabe von Wasser bzw. Elektrolyten. Die regulatorische Kapazität der Leber ist dabei abhängig vom Hydrie-rungszustand der Ratte.
