Zwei Gruppen von Kaninchen erhielten entweder Hydroxyäthylstärke von McGaw (Volex®) oder Dextran (Macrodex®, Pharmacia AB, Uppsala) in der Dosierung von 50 ml/kg KG in Form von 10 täglich verabreichten Infusionen. Die Serumspiegel der beiden Expander wurden über ein Jahr durch 14tägige Messungen verfolgt. Bei einigen Tieren wurden die Konzentrationen der Expander im Lebergewebe 1 Jahr nach Infusionsende gemessen. Histopathologische Untersuchungen erfolgten zum Teil mittels Leberbiopsie von Infusionsende bis zu 1 Jahr danach. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß Hydroxyäthylstärke (Volex®) während eines Jahres nicht vollständig abgebaut und eliminiert wird und zu langanhaltenden morphologischen Veränderungen führt, während Dextran (Macrodex®) nach 2 Monaten chemisch im Serum nicht mehr lïachweisbar ist.
