Hintergrund: Die Zweite Verordnung zur Anderung der Betriebsverordnung für pharmazeutische Unternehmer vom 13. Juli 1994 fordert für die Herstellung von Blutprodukten ein Qualitätssicherungssystem. Methodik: Auf der Grundlage bestehender Gesetzesvorgaben und Normen wurde ein Konzept zum Aufbau eines Qualitätssicherungssystems für eine Universitätsblutbank erarbeitet und für die Universitätsblutbank Heidelberg umgesetzt. Ergebnisse: Das Qualitätssicherungssystem der Universitätsblutbank Heidelberg basiert auf den Systemkomponenten «Strukturqualität», «Prozeßqualität» und «Ergebnisqualität»; der laborinterne «Soll»-Standard ist für alle Teilaspekte von Struktur-, Prozeß- und Ergebnisqualität als Standardarbeitsanweisung (SOP) festgelegt. Die SOP bilden die Grundlage des Qualitätssicherungshandbuches und der Laborhandbücher. Das Qualitätssicherungssytem integriert ein Konzept sowohl zur Selbstinspektion als auch zur regelmäßigen Aktualisierung und Ergänzung der SOP Schlußfolgerungen: Das dem Qualitätssicherungssystem der Universitätsblutbank Heidelberg zugrundeliegende Konzept ermöglicht «continuous quality improvement» in der Transfusionsmedizin und bietet darüber hinaus die Möglichkeit der Einordnung in ein fachübergreifendes patientenorientiertes Konzept der Qualitätssicherung nicht nur in regionalem Rahmen.
