Normovolämischen Kaninchen wurden 6% Hydroxyäthylstärke in 0,9% NaCl, 6% Dextran 60 in 0,9% NaCl oder 0,9% NaCl in einer Dosierung von 50 ml täglich 5mal wöchentlich bis zu einer beabsichtigten Versuchsdauer von 3 Wochen i.v. verabreicht. In der Hydroxyäthylstärke- und Dextran-Serie überlebten nur je 2, in der NaCl-Serie 4 Versuchstiere bis zum Versuchsende. In alien 3 Serien fanden sich erhebliche Flüssigkeitsansammlungen in den groβen Körperhöhlen und ödematöse Lungenveränderungen als Folgen der Kreislaufüberbelastung. In Leber und Niere waren schwere hydropische Zellveränderungen bei den mit Hydroxyäthylstärke oder Dextran behandelten Versuchstieren nachzuweisen, dage-gen nicht, wenn nur NaCl infundiert worden war. Nach den mitgeteilten Befunden besteht kein Unterschied zwischen den Effekten extrem hoher, über einen Zeiraum von 3 Wochen verabreichter Dosen von Hydroxyäthylstärke und Dextran 60.
