Abstract
Die Eiweiβverarmung wird als einheitliches Konzept für die Progression der akuten Diarrhö des Säuglings zum protrahierten oder unbeeinfluβbaren Stadium eingeführt. Es wird gezeigt, daβ bei akuter Diarrhö des Säuglings bedeutende Mengen endogenen Stickstoffs durch den Stuhl verlorengehen. Andauernder Verlust über eine Woche kann die Regeneration der Darmschleimhaut und die Synthese der Verdauungsenzyme beeinträchtigen. Der Erfolg der totalen parenteralen Ernährung bei der Behandlung unbeeinftuβbarer Diarrhö bestätigt diese Theorie. Als relativ ein-fache präventive Maβnahme bei der Behandlung früher Stadien der Diarrhö des Säuglings empfiehlt sich die Infusion von Amino-säurenlösungen zusammen mit Glukose über periphere Venen.
