Bedingt durch die Immobilisation von intensívpflichtigen Patienten oder durch pathologische Veränderungen im oberen Magen-Darm-Trakt wie z. B. Stenosen oder Anastomosen ist in einigen Fällen die Positionierung von Ernährungssonden in das Duodenum erschwert. Aus diesem Grunde wurde eine enterale Ernährungssonde entwickelt, die sich durch den Biopsiekanal eines Endoskops vorschieben läβt und somit eine Positionierung unter Sicht erlaubt. Dieses Verfahren wurde bei über 20 Patienten eingesetzt; in jedem Falle gelangen Sondenapplikation und nachfolgende Ernährung komplikationslos. Das erforderliche Instrumentarium ist inzwischen im Handel erhältlich.
