Bei neun Patienten, die sich einer Magenoperation unterziehen muβten, wurden vor und 20 Minuten nach Beginn der Narkose sowie am dritten und sechsten Tag nach der Operation Cholesterin und Triglyzeride im Serum bestimmt und die Fettsäuren der Cholesterinester gaschromatographisch untersucht. Die Spiegel von Cholesterin und Triglyzeriden im Serum sanken während der Narkose gering, in den Tagen nach der Operation starker ab. Der Esterquotient blieb normal. Die essentiellen Fettsäuren in den Cholesterinestern des Serums änderten sich kaum. Der Anteil der Linolsäure fiel gering ab, der der Arachidonsäure stieg nur vorübergehend gering an. Ursachen und Bedeutung dieser Veränderungen für die parenterale Ernährung nach einer Operation werden diskutiert.
