The article entitled “The Long Noncoding RNA, Growth Arrest-Specific 5, Suppresses Gastric Cancer by Downregulating miR-21 Expression” [Pharmacology. 2020;105(7–8):434–44; DOI: 10.1159/000504674] by Wenjun Li, Xiaonu Peng, Zhaoyang Wang, Hongwei Zhang, Haibo Huang, Huimin Liu, and Li Cai has been retracted by the Publisher and the Editor.
After publication, concerns were raised regarding the figures of the above article. Specifically, duplicated image elements were found between individual panels of Figure 6, as well as between Figure 6 and Figure 2 of the article. In addition, images were duplicated between Figure 6c of the above article and Figures 3 and 4 of a previously published article by different authors [1].
When contacted about the above concerns, the corresponding author said that it may be due to their negligence that the wrong image was inserted. When asked for more information on how the image error occurred, the authors did not respond within the given timeframe despite multiple attempts of contact. The matter has been raised to the corresponding author’s institution who did not respond to our request for an investigation. Given the severity of the concerns raised this article is being retracted. The authors have not responded to our correspondence regarding this retraction despite multiple attempts of contact.
