Tinnitus wird in der neurologischen Praxis bei zirka 10–20% der Patienten mit neurologischen Erkrankungen angetroffen. Als richtungsweisendes Symptom bei der neurologischen Differentialdiagnose spielt der Tinnitus jedoch eine untergeordnete Rolle. GefÁssmalformationen und Aneurismen kÖnnen die Ursache eines objektiven Tinnitus sein. Subjektiver Tinnitus kann Vorbote eines Schlaganfalls, Begleitsymptom neurodegenerativer Erkrankungen oder Residuum einer traumatischen oder entzÜndlichen ZNS-Erkrankung sein. Die gehÄufte gemeinsame Auftreten von neurologischer Erkrankung und Tinnitus scheint zu belegen, dass Tinnitus ein FrÜhsymptom neurologischer Erkrankungen seien kann. Als diagnostisches Vorgehen wird bei jedem Patienten mit Tinnitus neben der otologischen AbklÄrung auch eine eingehende neurologische Untersuchung mit GefÁssdoppleruntersuchung und Bildgebung mittels Kernspinntomographie des SchÄdels gefordert.
