En ORL, les domaines actuels d’application de l’approche psychosociale sont nombreux: oncologie, infectiologie, troubles de l’audition et de l’équilibre. La médecine psychosociale n’est pas une spécialité, mais une attitude et une approche centrées sur le patient et les dimensions psychologiques et relationnelles de son affection, sous divers angles, tels que la recherche d’éventuels facteurs psychologiques, l’évaluation et la prise en charge des répercussions psychosociales de la maladie, et la psychologie de la plainte, centrale pour la relation médecin-malade: l’auteur discute la nature, la signification et la prise en compte des acouphènes et des vertiges de ce point de vue, et formule quelques recommandations pour l’approche psychologique des patients qui en souffrent.
