Besonders wichtig wird in Zukunft die sorgfältige Auswahl von geeigneten Patientinnen für die Strahlentherapie sein. In einer Übersicht werden die vorhandenen Daten über den Wert der Strahlenbehandlung zusammengestellt. Um die radiologischen Behandlungsergebnisse zu verbessern, müssen Prognosefaktoren, wie Bestrahlungsart, Bestrahlungsvolumina und -dosis, biologische Faktoren und die Kom-bination mit Zytostatika, beachtet werden. Neuere Arbeiten, die diese Faktoren berücksichtigen, zeigten eine deutliche Verbesserung der Heilungsergebnisse des Ovarialkarzinoms durch die Strahlentherapie.
