Die psychologischen Aspekte von Krebserkrankungen werden zuneh-mend diskutiert. Allgemein werden die Betroffenen dabei als Patienten beschrieben, die psychisch unauffällig bleiben wollen. Es erscheint hier sehr sinnvoll, sich im Rahmen ambulanter psychologischer Hilfen an den Grundprinzipien psychotherapeutischen Handelns zu orientieren. Individuelle seelische Probleme sollten deshalb gerade bei diesem Personenkreis nicht in aufdeckender Weise analysiert werden. Vielmehr stellt die »stützende« beziehungsweise »interaktionelle« Einzelhilfe eine angemessene Methode des psychotherapeutischen Zugangs zum Krebspatienten dar. Beide Vorgehensweisen werden beschrieben.
