Vorkommen, Verteilung, Morphologie und Enzymaktivität der Lysosomen in malignen Keratinozyten des Larynxkarzinoms wurden mit Hilfe von Elektronenmikroskopie und ultrastruktureller Zytochemie untersucht. Lysosomen kommen in verschiedenen Formen vor: dichte, multivesikuläre, Myelin- und Residual-Körper. Die Aktivität der sauren Phosphatase variiert sowohl hinsichtlich ihrer Intensität als auch ihres Färbungsmusters. Das spezifische Reaktionsprodukt in Lysosomen findet sich auch im Zellkortex und in zytoplasmatischen Fort-sätzen der basalen Karzinomzellen. Eine extrazelluläre Lokalisation von saurer Phosphatase wird an der Tumor-Stromagrenze beobachtet. Die enzymzytochemischen und morphologischen Ergebnisse werden in Hinblick auf die gültigen Konzepte der lysosomalen Enzymaktivität in Tumorzellen diskutiert. Die Ergebnisse deuten auf die wichtige Rolle der extrazellulären Sekretion von lysosomalen Enzymen bei Tumorinvasion und Metastasierung hin.
