20 Patienten mit Hairy-cell-Leukämie wurden zwischen 1966 und 1978 behandelt. Alle bei lymphoproliferativen Erkrankungen übli-chen Therapieformen wurden bei einigen Patienten angewendet. Ne-ben Prednisolon, Vincristin, Endoxan® und Kombinationen sowie der Bestrahlung großer Milzen wurden depletorische Verfahren (Splenektomie und Leukapherese) eingesetzt. Die zytostatische Be-handlung hatte in keinem Fall einen günstigen Effekt. Sie gefährdete einige Patienten durch Auftreten schwerer Infektionen. Die Splenektomie brachte jeweils eine wesentliche Veränderung der Blutbild-parameter, die Leukapherese scheint in ähnlicher Art zu wirken. Die Lebenszeit der splenektomierten Patienten ist jeweils länger als die von vergleichbaren Partnern. Bei der großen Streuung der erreich-ten Lebenszeit ist jedoch keine grundsätzliche Aussage dazu möglich. 12 Patienten verstarben im Beobachtungszeitraum; 1 Patient erlag einer Komplikation der Splenektomie, während die übrigen an septischen Prozessen verstarben.
