Das α2-PAG ist ein hochmolekulares, kohlenhydrathaltiges, beim Menschen in Spuren vorkommendes Plasmaprotein. Bei 32 Patientinnen mit gynäkologischen Karzinomen wurde im Verlauf der Erkrankung während eines Zeitraums von 2 Jahren mit Hilfe eines Elektro-Immuno-Assays der ou-PAG-Serumwert bestimmt. Es konnte eine 60%ige Übereinstimmung zwischen der ou-PAG-Serumkonzentration und dem Krankheitsverlauf gefunden werden. Bei 5 von 13 Patientinnen, bei denen die Erkrankung therapeutisch nicht beeinflußt werden konnte, kam es zu α2-PAG-Anstiegen, vier Patientinnen hatten unver-ändert hohe α2-PAG-Spiegel, 3 Patientinnen waren im Finalstadium. Bei Ansprechen auf die Therapie fiel dagegen die ou-PAG-Konzen-tration in 13 von 17 Fallen kontinuierlich ab. Die mögliche klinische Relevanz des α2-PAG wird diskutiert.
