The Publisher and Editor are issuing an Expression of Concern on the article titled “Inhibition of SARS-CoV Gene Expression by Adenovirus-Delivered Small Hairpin RNA” [Intervirology. 2007;50(2):63–70; DOI: 10.1159/000097391] by Xue Zhang, Kailang Wu, Xin Yue, Ying Zhu and Jianguo Wu.
After the publication of this article, concerns were raised about the integrity of some of the data presented. Specifically, partial duplication of images within Figure 3a, 3b, 3d and 4d was observed. In addition, in Figure 3f there is no image shown for β-Actin.
When asked to comment on the above the authors stated that due to the closure of the laboratory the original data are not available for review. Readers should thus interpret the data presented in the article with caution. Additional appropriate editorial action may be taken should more information become available.
