In a number of studies performed on different locations throughout the world and in homes inhabited both by healthy individuals as well as by patients allergic to the specific allergen, the content of the major allergens from the house dust mite (Der p I, m I and f I), cat (Fel d I) and dog (Ag 3, 13) was measured. The comparison between homes of allergies and non-allergies revealed a tendency to high levels of cat allergens in homes of non-allergies. The content of the mite allergens showed large variations both with respect to the total amount of mites and the species of the mites.
