The distribution of immunoglobulin-forming cells and immunoglobulin deposits in 49 palatine and 48 pharyngeal tonsils of children was examined by immunoflourescent technique. IgG was found in cells scattered throughout the tissues. IgA was localized in the columnar epithelium cells, basement membrane and in the cells close to the basement membrane. IgM-containing cells did not show preferential localization and were scattered throughout the tissues. IgD cells were concentrated in the mantle zone surrounding the germinal centers. IgE-containing cells were seen rarely and they were scattered throughout the tonsils. The most common immunoglobulins in the germinal centers were IgG, A and M. Only a few IgD and one IgE germinal center were observed in the tonsils.
