The article entitled “Accelerated Coasting Does Not Affect Oocyte Maturation” [Gynecol Obstet Invest. 2018;83:145–50; DOI: 10.1159/000477297] by Ahmed F. Galal, Hadeer Aly Abbassy, Ashraf Hany AbdElrahman, Mohamed Sayed Abdelhafez and Ahmed Badawy has been retracted by the Publisher and the Editor. After the publication of this article, similarities in study design, recruitment, and patient demographics between this article and a previous article by the authors [1] were brought to the attention of the journal. An Expression of Concern was published while the matter was unresolved, including the authors’ comment on the concerns raised [2]. As outlined in [2], when asked to comment on the similarities between the two studies, the corresponding author stated that there are no individuals in common between the two studies. They stated that “there may appear that there are some similarities in some values, there are differences in others (BMI, duration of infertility, fertilization rate, and pregnancy rate, OHSS rate). Similarities in patients’ characteristics representing a pool of population (same inclusion criteria for both articles) are not unknown, in retrospective as well as RCTs.” They further stated that the study period, methodology, hypothesis tested, medication, and approval granting institution were different between the studies. The authors provided the anonymized original data for this article to the journal for review. Given the similarities between these two studies and the absence of reference to [1] in this article, this article is being retracted. The corresponding author on behalf of all authors does not agree with this retraction.
