Die Zukunft der operativen Gynäkologie ist geprägt von einer Abnahme der herkömmlichen traditionellen Operationsverfahren und einer Zunahme der endoskopischen Operationstechniken. Die Entwicklung, der Fortschritt und die praktische Umsetzung neuer Technologien müssen auf der Basis wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse beruhen, so wie dies bei der Staging-Laparotomie im Frühstadium des Ovarialkarzinoms geschehen ist. Die Endoskopie ist bereits Bestandteil der täglichen Routine an alien gynäkologischen Abteilungen, obwohl wichtige Fragen wie die optimale Technik, die richtige Indikationsstellung sowie die Auswirkungen dieses neuen Operationsverfahrens im besonderen auf den weiteren Krankheitsverlauf von Malignomen der Adnexa noch offen sind. Gerade die operative Gynäkologie muss sich in Zukunft weg von einer dogmatisch bestimmten Denkweise hin zu einer kritischen wissenschaftlich-analytischen Praxis entwickeln.
