Es wird ein Fall einer falsch-positiven Rubella-Diagnose bei einer I-Gravida in der 14. Schwangerschaftswoche beschrieben. Die mit einem Enzymimmunoassay nachgewiesene Präsenz von Rubellavirus-spezifischen IgM konnte unter Verwendung alternativer Methoden nicht bestätigt werden. Auch klinisch lagen keine Zeichen einer Rubellavirusinfektion vor. Es wird deshalb empfohlen, bei einem Befund mit der möglichen Tragweite einer Schwangerschaftsunterbrechung den Nachweis von IgM mit mindestens einer, besser zwei zusätzlichen Methoden zu bestätigen. Im Verlauf dieser Untersuchungen wurde eine kürzliche Zytomegalievirus-Infektion bei der Mutter mit konnataler Infektion des Neugeborenen festgestellt.
