Bei stimmprothetisch versorgten Laryngektomierten stellt die mangelhafte Abdichtung der Trachealklappe in einigen Fallen ein Problem dar. Häufig ist dabei die ungenügende Adaptation durch eine unregelmässige Hautoberfläche um das Stoma herum bedingt. Durch eine individuelle Anpassung von Trachealklappen kann in fast alien Fallen das Problem des luftdichten, spannungsfreien Verschlusses gelöst werden, so dass die Kommunikation des Patienten erleichtert wird. Aber auch in den Fallen, in denen der Patient Schwierigkeiten mit dem Stomaverschluss mit dem Finger hat, kann durch eine individuelle Adaptervariation eine Verbesserung erreicht werden. Schliesslich bietet dieses Verfahren auch bei alien anderen tracheotomierten Patienten mit morphologischen Besonderheiten des Tracheostomas eine individuelle Versorgung.
