I am very grateful to Dr. Frater for his views; his analysis and discussion are very powerful additions to the paper. The cerebrospinal fluid white blood cell elevation is a very important indicator in the diagnosis of neurosyphilis and is included in the diagnostic criteria in the guidelines or consensus in regions [1‒4]. His views on the preanalytical factors of cerebrospinal fluid leukocyte data are very instructive. I strongly agree with the initiative to introduce cell counting method in detail in research, as well as measures to make laboratory results more accurate.
