Electrophoretic localization of trypsin inhibiting substances in pig colostrum and in serum, urine and organ extracts of the developing pig has been performed using two different substrates,BAPNA and casein. Two major groups of inhibiting substances occur. One, localized in the γ-région, dominates in colostrum and urine from newborn suckled piglets and the other, localized in the a-region, is the dominating fraction in serum from all developmental stages of the pig. It is concluded that the colostral trypsin inhibitor is absorbed via the intestinal mucosa into the blood and then rapidly eliminated via the kidneys.
