Impulse cytophotometry, a recently developed method for measuring cell constituents in single cells, was used to study cell kinetics in a case of psoriasis pustulosa et arthropathica. The profound clinical changes have their counterpart in the cell kinetics. Whereas in the active front the percentages of cells in S and mitosis are very high, they are virtually normal in the clinically healthy area just before and beyond the front. As the front moves rather fast, dramatic changes must appear at the cellular level. It is suggested that impulse cytophotometry, because of its versatility and speed, can be used in evaluating therapy by analogy to its use in cancer research (leukemia).
