The distribution of sodium selenite 75Se in young rats with special reference to teeth and bone has been studied by means of autoradiography. The highest concentrations of 75Se were initially found in liver and intestine followed by kidney, circulating blood, and secretory mucosa of the stomach. Relatively high concentrations of 75Se were found in the liver and kidney throughout the experimental period of 4 days. In calcifying tissues, a low to moderate concentration was found during the first few hours after injection. Among these tissues, the highest concentration was found in newly formed enamel matrix. 4 days after injection, most of the injected selenium had disappeared from the hard tissues.
