α-1,6-Fucosyltransferase (α1,6FucT) is involved in the biosynthesis of asparagine-linked glycoprotein oligosaccharides. In this study, we isolated a genomic clone for the human α1,6FucT gene (FUT8) and mapped it by fluorescence in situ hybridization to chromosome 14q24.3. This study suggests a distinct localization of FUT8 from genes for other human fucosyltransferases reported to date.
