Von November 1989 bis November 1992 wurden 1030 laparoskopische Appendektomien rund um die Uhr von 14 Operateuren in 3-Punkt-Technik durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daβ sich die endoskopische Vorgehensweise gut als Regeleingriff in einer Ausbildungsklinik eignet. Auch wenn die endoskopische Appendektomie nicht frei von Komplikationen ist, ergeben sich gegenüber der offenen Operation Vorteile aus der kürzeren Liegezeit und den guten kosmetischen Ergebnissen. Vorteile ergeben sich insbesondere bei den stark infektgefährdeten Befunden wie der Phlegmone, der Gangrän, der Abszeβbildung und der Perforation.
