Die Behandlung von Fisteln am Gastrointestinaltrakt kann endoskopisch wirkungsvoll unterstützt werden. Krankheitsverläufe können verkürzt werden; nicht selten werden operative Revisionen sowie die Anlage eines Stomas vermieden. Zum Einsatz kommen endoskopisches Fisteldébridement mit verschiedenen Methoden, Abdichtung der Fistelöffnung durch Endoprothesen (Ösophagus, Gallenwege), Senkung des Sekretdruckes durch Verbesserung des intraluminalen Abflusses (Gallenwege, Pankreas) und neuerdings die Fistelokklusion durch Injektion von Fibrinkleber. Zugrundeliegende Erkrankung, Lokalisation, Fisteldurchmesser und Sekretvolumen beeinflussen die Wahl der endoskopischen Methode.
