Flächige Adhäsionen mit der Abdominalwand verursachen eine typische Änderung des Sonogramms der Bauchdecke. Diese Änderung ist durch die Auflösung der inneren Reflexionsbande der Bauchdecke mit Aufhebung der Atemverschieblichkeit zwischen Abdominalwand und Bauchhöhle gekennzeichnet. Die Wertigkeit dieser Beobachtung wurde in einer prospektiven klinischen Untersuchung überprüft. Während die Sensitivität für die Diagnostik zarter Adhäsionen nicht ausreichend ist, konnten alle relevanten Verwachsungen von Dunn- und Dickdarm mit der Abdominalwand präoperativ erkannt werden.
