Abstract
Über das letzte Jahrzehnt haben immer neuere technologische Entwicklungen das Interesse an der Nutzung kathetergelenkter Laserenergie zur Eröffnung obstruierter Gefäβe belebt. In den meisten Fallen wurde die Behandlung durch Ballondilatation ergänzt. Die primäre Erfolgsrate und die Offenhalterate in der Langzeitbeobachtung liegen in einem der perkutanen transluminalen Angiographie (PTA) sehr ähnlichen prozentualen Bereich. In einer Standortbestimmung wird belegt, daβ die Laserangioplastie mit alien Modifikationen bisher nicht geeignet war, die PTA von ihrer Position als goldener Standard der Therapie zu verdrängen. Vielmehr stellt sich für die Anwendung im femoralen Gefäβabschnitt die grundsätzliche Existenzfrage für die Laserangioplastie
