Drug Dosage: The authors and the publisher have exerted every effort to ensure that drug selection and dosage set forth in this text are in accord with current recommendations and practice at the time of publication. However, in view of ongoing research, changes in government regulations, and the constant flow of information relating to drug therapy and drug reactions, the reader is urged to check the package insert for each drug for any changes in indications and dosage and for added warnings and precautions. This is particularly important when the recommended agent is a new and/or infrequently employed drug.

There are two separate groups present in the population of the Ferrara region. One, in the western part of the region, is not appreciably different from the rest of the population of the province of Emilia.Another group which lives in the eastern portion of the province (Comacchio), is characterized by strong thalassaemic nucleus.Out of about 2000 determinations of natural isoagglutinins we have observed the thalassaemic nucleus in 60 % with isoagglutinins above 1:200. No significant differences between the two groups are shown as far as presence of immune isoagglutinins in the subjects of group O is concerned. In Cooley's disease the percentage of patients with immune isoagglutinins is about 20 %.Although there is a decrease of natural isoagglutinins in elderly persons (above 70 years) of group O, the immune isoagglutinins are present just as frequently as in younger persons.
