A stereotaxic atlas of the Virginia opposum (Didelphis virginiana) was developed. A cat stereotaxic apparatus (Baltimore Instruments, Inc.) was used.The study included the area of the brain between the septum and the mesencephalon. Particular emphasis wasplaced on the structures of the diencephalon. Two reference points on the skull are given to check the position of the brain in the stereotaxic apparatus. The map was found to be highly accurate when used in electro-physiological studies of the hypothalamus.
