Jedes Wort scheint richtig, und jedes falsche Wort übergewichtig. Die Kluft tut sich auf zwischen dem, was wir wissen, und dem, was wir oft sagen. Zwischen wirksamen psychologischen Einsichten, die wir haben, und Psychojargon, der zur Banalität verkommen kann und dabei böse wird. Die Furcht ergreift, in der zweiten Nazigeneration die Balance zu verlieren bei der teilnehmenden Betrachtung und abzurutschen in die banale Betrachtung oder die schädigende Teilnahme. Dann tauchen die Figuren von Gut und Böse auf, die Tragödie wandelt sich zum Drama und verführt zu Verfolgungen. Schliesslich schreckt das Grauen vor dem Bösen, um das es in der Kontroverse geht. Es schwächt die Fähigkeit zur Distanz, und der Nazischatten droht, bei seiner Behandlung die Oberhand zu gewinnen, zu überschwemmen und zu verschlingen.
